Bernard Development Company is a small Northwest based real estate development firm, formed in 1988. The principal/owner is J. Thomas Bernard. His real estate development and land use planning experience is through private company and government affiliations. Most of this recent experience is based in Washington state, with additional real estate education and work experience in Canada, Europe, Massachusetts, and California. Bernard holds an Engineer of Mines degree from the Colorado School of Mines, a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University, and a Washington State Real Estate Brokers license.

Past activities of principals of the firm have ranged through the full development process on the private side of the industry, comprehensive planning of major city areas, rezoning, land acquisition and financing, master planning of large and small business/industria1 parks and central business district property, writing for and implementing government legislation and regulations, management of design, preparation and processing of environmental impact statements, project construction financing, building construction management, property management, leasing and sale of land and buildings, long term financing, and joint venture development.
This experience includes all phases of development: property acquisition, planning, zoning, and government land use approvals, environmental reviews, financing of land and projects, design and construction management, leasing and sales, and property management. These principals also have prior years of experience as managers and as officers of other national and local real estate development companies.
